This guide will explore the meaning, causes, and solutions for the 25E error code in Samsung Inverter refrigerators.
What does the 25E error code mean?
This code indicates a problem with the refrigerator’s defrost system, particularly in the food preservation section. Samsung Inverter refrigerators are equipped with two internal coils or evaporators, which require two defrost systems to function properly.
Main components of the defrost system
- Control System: Located on the electronic board, it manages the entire defrosting process.
- Power Relay: Also on the control board, it allows electrical current (120 VAC) to flow to the defrost heater when activated.
- Thermal Fuses: Act as thermal switches, cutting off current if the temperature gets too high due to the heater.
- Defrost Heaters: Generate heat to melt ice accumulated on the evaporator.
A malfunction can originate in any of these components.
Steps to resolve the 25E error code
1. Defrost the refrigerator
- Unplug the refrigerator from the power source.
- Leave the doors open for several hours to ensure complete defrosting.
2. Internal inspection
- Once defrosted, carefully remove the top cover of the preservation section that protects the fan.
3. Activate forced defrost mode
- Reconnect the refrigerator to the power source.
- From the control panel, activate the RD (forced defrost) function by pressing the specific buttons for your refrigerator model.
- When activated, you should hear a click from the relay and notice an increase in temperature at the evaporator heater.
4. Diagnose the results
- If heating occurs properly: The error might be a false alert caused by a faulty sensor.
- If no click or heating is detected: The issue could be with the electronic board or the relay.
5. Check the defrost system components
- Defrost Heater:
- Use a multimeter set to Ohms to measure resistance.
- The reading should be around 120 Ohms. If the reading is 0 or infinite, replace the heater.
- Thermal Fuse:
- If the fuse is open or shows infinite resistance, it needs to be replaced.
6. Temporary solution
If no obvious problem is detected, unplugging the refrigerator for several hours—preferably overnight—may help reduce ice buildup and indirectly resolve the issue.
