Error Codes for Frigidaire Air Conditioner

  • Code EA: Failure in the indoor ambient temperature sensor.
  • Code ES: Failure in the evaporator or indoor unit temperature sensor.
  • Code F1: Issues with the indoor air temperature sensor due to an open circuit or short circuit. The status indicator blinks once and turns off for 3 seconds.
  • Code F2: Issues with the indoor coil temperature sensor due to an open circuit or short circuit. The indicator blinks twice and turns off for 3 seconds.
  • Code F4: Issues with the outdoor coil temperature sensor due to an open circuit or short circuit. The indicator blinks three times and turns off for 3 seconds.
  • Code FFP: Activation of the freeze protection for the indoor coils. The indicator blinks five times. This issue may be related to the tube sensor in the indoor unit.

Steps to Troubleshoot Temperature Sensor Issues

  1. Restart the unit: Turn off the air conditioner and unplug it for several minutes. Then, turn it back on to check if the error persists.
  2. Locate the affected sensor: Identify the sensor involved based on the displayed error code.
  3. Check the sensor’s position: Ensure it is properly placed and firmly secured.
  4. Inspect the connections: Verify that the connections between the sensor and the electronic board are secure and that the cables are undamaged.
  5. Reconnect the sensor: Disconnect and reconnect the sensor. Clean the connections if necessary.
  6. Measure the sensor’s resistance: Use a multimeter set to the kilo-ohms scale. The reading should never be 0 or infinite. If it is, replace the sensor. When rubbing the sensor with your hand, its resistance should decrease. If it doesn’t, replace it.
  7. Consult the equipment manual: Compare the measured values with the sensor specification table in the manual. If they don’t match, replace the sensor.
  8. Inspect the electronic board: Visually examine the board controlling the sensor for faults. If the problem persists, consider replacing the electronic board.
