Steps for Installation
1. Extending the Piping
Since the distance between the units exceeds the original pipe length provided with the equipment, the pipes must be extended.
- Total required length: 10 meters.
- Original pipe length: 3 meters.
- Additional pipe to install: 7 meters.
2. Refrigerant Adjustment
To compensate for the additional piping, refrigerant must be added according to the table provided, which specifies the required amount based on the pipe type and size.
- Thin pipe (liquid line, 1/4 inch, R410A):
- Amount per meter: 18.6 g.
- Total for 7 meters: 130.2 g.
- Thick pipe (vapor line, 3/8 inch, R410A):
- Amount per meter: 2.23 g.
- Total for 7 meters: 15.61 g.
- Total refrigerant to add: 145.8 g.
3. Oil Traps
Since the vertical pipe length exceeds 4 meters, oil traps must be installed on the thin pipe to ensure that the compressor’s lubricant does not accumulate in the outdoor unit, particularly as it is positioned below the indoor unit.
- First oil trap:
- Location: At the beginning of the pipe run.
- Feature: Wide curvature radius to minimize pressure drop.
- Second oil trap:
- Location: Halfway along the vertical pipe, as it exceeds 4 meters.
- Feature: Wide curvature radius.
- Inverted oil trap:
- Location: At the required height.
- Function: Prevent oil return.
4. Proper Slopes
The pipe slopes must be set to facilitate oil return to the compressor and prevent accumulations.
- Slope towards the outdoor unit:
- Required: 2 cm per meter.
- For 2 meters horizontal distance: 4 cm slope.
- Slope towards the indoor unit:
- Required: 2 cm per meter.
- For 2 meters horizontal distance: 4 cm slope.
5. Thick Pipe
The thick pipe, responsible for refrigerant suction, must also maintain a slope of 2 cm per meter towards the compressor to ensure efficient oil return.
