PC01 Error Code in Air Conditioners: Diagnosis and Solution

The PC01 error code in air conditioners usually indicates issues with the power supply voltage to the compressor, provided by the external electronic board located in the condensation unit. If this error code appears, follow the steps below to resolve it:

Steps to resolve the PC01 error

  1. Disconnect the unit for a few minutes.
    • Wait at least 5 minutes before reconnecting the unit.
  2. Reconnect the unit and check if the error disappears.
    • If the error persists, proceed to the next step.
  3. Disconnect the unit again for a longer period.
    • After several minutes, attempt to turn on the air conditioner and observe if the error continues.
  4. Check the power voltage and the cable connections.
    • Use a multimeter to ensure the input voltage is normal.
    • Inspect the electrical connections; a loose cable could be causing the PC01 error.
  5. Inspect the electronic board of the external condensation unit.
    • If the power voltage and connections are correct, the issue may lie in the electronic board, specifically in the PFC circuit (Power Factor Correction), which is responsible for supplying voltage to the compressor.

PFC Circuit Diagnosis

  1. Check the voltage at the output of the PFC rectifier bridge.
    • With the unit connected, the DC voltage should be:
      • Approximately 150 V DC if the unit is powered with 110 V AC.
      • Approximately 300 V DC if the unit is powered with 220 V AC.
  2. Inspect key components of the PFC circuit.
    • If there is no voltage at the rectifier bridge output, the issue could be:
      • The PTC resistance.
      • The power relay.
      • The rectifier bridge.
  3. Check the continuity of the coil or reactor in the PFC circuit.
    • Measure the continuity between the input and output to ensure there are no interruptions.
  4. Inspect the resistance, diodes, and capacitors in the PFC circuit.
    • Ensure the resistance values are correct and that the components do not show visible damage.
  5. Check the status of the IGBT transistor in the PFC circuit.
    • A defective transistor may prevent the circuit from functioning properly.
  6. Inspect the driver of the PFC circuit and the IPM module.
    • If no obvious faults are found in the PFC circuit, the issue could be with the driver of the PFC circuit or the IPM module, which controls the power supply to the compressor.
